Dear friends,
Life has gotten a whole lot tougher for many Australians this year. The cost-of-living crisis and our nation’s housing catastrophe has left many people increasingly anxious, and often desperate. As people needed more help, Wesley Mission’s resources and resilience were stretched and tested, but our commitment to doing all the good we can, didn’t ever waver.
As more people came to us for help, our compassion, courage, resilience and humility – our soft hearts, sharp minds, hard feet and open hands – enabled us to walk together with people through their challenges.
The theme for our 2024 Annual Report is walking together. I believe we enjoy a profound privilege in walking together with those we serve. That’s what the so-called Good Samaritan did in one of Jesus’ most famous stories (Luke 10:25-37). He crossed the road, risking all to walk with a stranger in crisis, opening up a new hope-filled future. That’s what our people do every day in countless ways.
Walking together with people as they navigate the difficult and everyday moments of their lives is not only a job for us – it’s a calling. I’m so grateful for all our Wesley Mission team, who go above and beyond to help people facing tough times. Because of their commitment and compassion, people know they can rely on Wesley Mission when they need support.
I’m excited to release our 2024 Annual Report. This year’s report offers a collection of stories and achievements demonstrating the profound impact of the work we do every day.
I encourage you to take the time to read each story and see the incredible impact we’ve been able to make in the lives of people across New South Wales and Australia.
You can now view the Annual Report online.
Thank you for walking with us this year and for your support in helping us achieve the incredible outcomes shared in this report.
If you would like to continue supporting us, I want to share with you the incredible impact your support can have on families facing homelessness and domestic violence. Kate* and Elliot* were among Australia’s hidden homeless. This Christmas, they’re safe, empowered and looking forward to celebrating. If you’re able to give, a kind gift from you can help empower more families, like Kate and Elliot, find their place of belonging this Christmas season.
